First vineyard

19 January 2013

This is the vineyard where it all began, for me anyway. Thanks to the efforts of Rosa Kruger, Peter-Allan Finlayson and Chris Alheit in rescuing this parcel and offering me a share of it, this was the little push that I needed to get things off the ground.

This is an old bos-stok Chardonnay vineyard that I had often driven past on the Van der Stel pass near Bot River, wondering where this beautiful old vineyard finds its way into a wine bottle. Luckily Peter-Allan, Rosa and Chris rescued it from Kosie’s sheep, and we are now looking forward to some concentrated wines from this little gem. The vineyard has been very well looked after, and is healthy with a fantastically balanced vigour.

Graham is heading up an exciting new Jackson Family project here in the Western Cape, that I can’t wait to hear more about.
